remote cognitive assessment

Promote patient compliance and facilitates more effective follow-up

A sound working relationship between practitioner and patient has been proven essential for positive treatment outcomes. Establishing an alliance to secure patient compliance is key. Physicians can use ongoing contact to increase cooperation and drive collaboration.

One way to achieve this is through ongoing passive and active testing, with friendly reminders to patients to participate and short updates sharing the results.

Almost all patients have smartphones, and Mon4t’s app uses the technology embedded in every phone to turn them into a comprehensive, personal neurological lab. Tests are ordered by physicians, performed by patients in the comfort of their natural surroundings, and the biomarkers and data go to the physician, who can adjust treatment and titrate medications as needed – all remotely.

Mon4t’s app supports a range of tests

Stroop Color and Word Test (SCWT) – Stroop measures cognitive interference when someone tries to process two different attributes of the same stimulus, indicating a disruption of executive function (ordering, etc.).

Stroop Word Meaning – Patients have to match words with fonts and colors, demonstrating the ability to screen out incongruous stimuli.

Eriksen Flanker – This tests the ability to suppress responses that are inappropriate to context.

Digital Span Memory Test – Tests verbal short-term memory, where patients are presented with a sequence of digits, one per second; the patient must enter the sequence as remembered.

Trails A and B – A measures rote memory, while B is commonly used after a stroke to evaluate visual search speed, scanning, processing speed, mental flexibility, and executive function.

Verbal Memory – These tests measure the ability to encode and retrieve verbal information.

Attention/Reaction (Go/NoGo) – The subject taps on the screen only when the target image appears.

Card Sorting Test – This measures higher-level cognitive processes like attention, perseverance, abstract thinking, and set shifting, and is used to measure perseverative behaviors that refer to an individual’s insistence on wrong behavior.

N-Back Task – It measures working memory and working memory capacity.

The tests are used in combination to get the most complete clinical picture possible. They all come with easy-to-understand instructions, so even more neurologically compromised patients can use the app. Tests can be performed in the patient’s preferred environment at their convenience, promoting always-sought-after compliance.
